A while back, I competed in sports. Swimming to be exact. In between heats, I would slip out of the pool, (sometimes) dry my hands, grab my Canon, shoot a roll of film for the school paper, stash the camera, then jump up to the starting block to swim the next race. All done in the comfort of a Speedo. Those days have passed. Eventually, I discovered I was better at photographing athletes, than actually being one.
I was an athlete. Now I capture the beauty of athletes. My vision and focus produce graphic, dynamic images and iconic portraits and moments in sport. I have traveled the world on commercial campaigns for the likes of Nike, adidas, Target, Rolex, Chevrolet, Toyota, Sprint, NASCAR, and Titleist. My images have filled the pages of publications including; Sports Illustrated, ESPN the Magazine, Newsweek, Stern, L'Equipe, and the NY Times.
I graduated from UCLA with degrees in Art History and German. After too many years living in Los Angeles, I packed my wagon and hit the trail for Oregon, where I now live with my family. And occasionally I still get to enjoy some laps in the pool.
